Website COMPLETE SITE DUE MAY 6 9:00 a.m. You will create a website to display learning about various school subjects, using iWeb. First, design a personal logo. Look at these sites for ideas of how to design a logo: http://www.forlook.com/identity-design/logos.htm Your website will contain the following sections (click on the links to find out what is required for each section): 1. Language Arts 2. Science 3. History 4. Geography 5. The Arts 6. Other (could be about you - i.e. personal interests) NOTE: These sites will not be uploaded to the internet, unless arranged with permission at the time of their completion. Do not use any personal or identifying information beyond your first name. 1. Language Arts A / Write a section on the novel you are currently reading, complete with information about the author and relelvant other information that you can find. B / We will be having a discussion about Earth Hour and its overall impact. After the discussion, you will write an essay explaining your views on how effective Earth Hour was as an environmental action. Your essay will contain the following elements: 1) an introduction, in which you state your main view/s on the subject, 2) paragraphs led off by topic sentences followed by further explanation and examples 3) a conclusion, where you sum up your overall opinion about the topic. C / Draw main characters in your setting. Scan, photoshop, put on site. D / Write a compare and contrast essay about Bruce Hornsby's Just the Way it is and Tupac Shakur's Changes. 2. What is the difference between heat and temperature? How is heat transmitted by: conduction, convection, radiation? What is are the heat capacities of: water, aluminum, sand, pyrex? What is the difference between heat and temperature? (HAVE YOU ANSWERED THIS YET?) Have you made sure to know conduction, convection and radiation? THIS WILL BE ON THE TEST, I GUARANTEE YOU. Look at this page and comment on temperature extremes, and the effects that varying temperatures have on humans. Point out some other temerature ranges that would not be suitable for human or other life. What is the history of the thermometer? How does one work? Provide information on different temperature scales. What are some forms of Heat Energy? Explain. (You will need to go to the web for this). Compare the motions of particles in a solid, liquid and gases. (You may want to look for this in one of the few Science textbooks we have in the cupboard, or on the web). * We covered this question last term, as well.

History - Conflict and Change A / Watch the video Rebellion and Reform and take notes and dates in a Smart Ideas file called: B2nameHistory3 B / Use the textbook (in class to find the following), then enter the information on your website: WRITE A PERSONAL AD FOR THE FOLLOWING HISTORICAL CHARACTERS: - Louis-Joseph Papineau - William Lyon Mackenzie - William Baldwin C / Define the following terms: rebellion, moderate, radical, conflict, responsible government, Family Compact, Chateau Clique, Fils de la Liberte, Doric Club. What minerals does Canada have? How are these minerals used? How are they extracted? Are there any problems with how minerals are extracted? What effect would the discovery of a new gold or diamond deposit have on its surrounding area? How can we ensure the sustainability of a resource? How might changes in technology affect natural resource extraction and use? B / Report the facts you gather from the two movies about Energy and Solar power.
